Not all animals with the word fish in their names count as fish. |
Though their names may suggest otherwise, cuttlefish, starfish, and jellyfish aren’t actually fish. Generally-speaking, fishes must have skulls, gills, and fins. Surprisingly, though, not all fishes have proper spines. |

Even Catfish are finicky |
Taste Buds ? Catfish have a more refined sense of flavor than humans. Our 10,000 taste buds may seem like a lot, but catfish can have as many as 175,000. This helps them find the exact location of their next meal. |

Seems the bite at Catalina shut off as fast as it started. I heard that on Saturday the fish bit but early in the morning between 2:30 am and 4:00 am in the morning. I also hear that there were almost 50 boats on the spot which will shut the bite down with all the anchors dropping on the fish. We will see what happens this week if the wind does not blow too hard........Good luck if you get out.......Steve

Smaller boats were in them as well in the area of the east end. Good luck if you get out..........Steve

A marlin was spotted jumping between Santa Barbara Island and Catalina by the Pacific Star out of Davey’s Locker today on the way back from a trip to Santa Barbara Island. I got this from a person on the boat who say's this is true. Very early for marlin but could be a banner year for them..........

White seabass were biting this last weekend on the full moon at the back of the island. Several boats limited out on them fishing 40 ft depth at the back of the island using squid and sliding sinker or dropper loop rigs. Seems the bite shut off around Saturday and Sunday maybe due to boat pressure? I think personally that the seabass bite best 2-3 days prior to a full moon and shut off 2-3 days after. They will bite again this weekend I am sure. Good luck if you get out.

White seabass action is good this week at San Clemente Island Pyramid Cove. A few boats got into the bite there catching 30 to 38 lb fish along with some very large black seabass as well. The bit was full speed as anglers were catching the white seabass while some of the rods still had the blacks on in the rod holders. Squid was the bait of choice tipped on a white jig. A lot of red crab in the area also causing the calico bass bite to go on hold with very little action on them. Good luck if you get out and feel free to leave a report if you get out...............<’))))))><
