Tip&Trick Description 1:
I primarily use this rig for King Mackeral fishing on the East coast. The rig is very simple. When using a ribbon fish deep try attaching a single bait hook roughly 8-10 inches above the ribbon fish. This technique will provide more action to the dead ribbon fish and will also appear to the King Mackeral that the ribbon is attempting to feed on the live bait. All avid King Mackeral anglers know that a large king is more acceptable during a feed. I hope that this rig will help add an edge to everyone who fishes live bait for King Mackeral. The rig should be tied as described below:
30 - 50lb barrel swivel to haywire twist, 4 inch #6 leader wire, haywire twist to single bait hook (sz. preference), haywire twist 8 inch #6 wire, Hookup jig head 3/16, haywire twist to 3 or 4 hook stinger setup. No picture is provided due to the length of the rig. The small wire and hooks are not noticable when whole rig is in frame.

Tip&Trick Description 1:
The Castaway
One day this guy, who has been stranded on a desert island all alone for ten years, sees an unusual
speck on the horizon. 'It's certainly not a ship, 'he thinks to himself. As the speck gets closer and closer,
he begins to rule out the possibilities of a small boat, then even a raft.
Suddenly, emerging from the surf comes this drop-dead gorgeous blonde woman wearing a wet suit and
scuba gear. She approaches the stunned guy and says to him, 'Tell me, how long has it been since
you've had a cigarette?' 'Ten years' replies the stunned man. With that, she reaches over and unzips a
waterproof pocket on her left sleeve and pulls out a pack of fresh cigarettes. He takes one, lights it and
takes a long drag and says, 'Man oh man! Is that ever good!'
And how long has it been since you've had a sip of bourbon?' she asks him.
Trembling, the castaway replies: 'Ten years!' She reaches over, unzips her waterproof pocket on her
right sleeve pulls out a flask and hands it to him. He opens the flask, takes a long swig and says, 'Wow,
that's absolutely fantastic!'
At this point, she starts slowly unzipping the long zipper that runs own the front of her wet suit, looks at
him seductively and asks, 'And how long has it been since you've played around?' With tears in his eyes
the guy falls to his knees and says. 'Oh sweet Jesus! Don't tell me you've got golf clubs in there too! |

Tip&Trick Description 1:
My first time fishing Lake Cachuma was this last weekend April 27th 2002 and I will let you in on a secret this is a fine lake with great staff excellent fishing and abundant campsites. I was very impressed with the guys at the marina ( Jim and Allen) for giving us great tips for fishing their lake without holding back any information necessary for a first timer to their lake. Right out of the marina he told me to troll straight thru the center of the lake and we would be sure to get bit and he was right. Less than 10 minutes from the launch ramp right where he suggested we caught the first fish a nice largemouth bass about 3-4 lbs and lost the first hook up as we were surprised to get a strike so soon. This fish jumped clear out of the water and fought like a much larger fish than it actually ended up being. |

Tip&Trick Description 2:
We released the bass and continued anxious to get to the trout which is what we were after. On the way to the next spot Jim and Allen had given us directions to we saw 4 deer on the shore grazing like they owned the place (which I guess they did) We set our sites on the points jetting out along the far side of the lake about 200 feet offshore. Instantly off one of the points both the reels went off as we were trolling rainbow trout colored Yo-zuri Emperor Minnows and L-Jack series lures on 4 and 6 lb test at a fairly slow troll. First fish fell off but I managed to get mine to the boat and into it for supper that evening. We did a turn around and went right back over the same spot and sure enough another missed opportunity. Back we went again with another 2 strikes managing to get one in the boat for a better meal for the 3 of us eating that night. Back and forth again for nothing and we decided to give the opposite bank a try. |

Tip&Trick Description 3:
On the other side of the lake were the serious bass guy's fishing the bow of their sleek boats with the chairs and trolling motor on the bow. We steered clear of them and moved again about 200 feet off the shoreline and continued our trolling pattern slow and parallel to shore. We started noticing the wind more and more as we headed back towards the launch ramp noticing there was only one jacket made it to the boat and it was mine! We again managed to get another rainbow to strike right out of the water it jumped and then a small battle and into the boat it came. We were done now 1 fish each for dinner and one released bass in about 2 hours fishing time. Now it was back to camp to make dinner and get warm. A jacket is a good thing to bring on any lake as the wind always decides to blow in the afternoon. I must tell you that the guy's at the marina tackle shop know their stuff about where the fish are biting and what they are biting on. Without their tips we may have come home empty handed as several others had that day. Good luck if you get a chance to fish Lake Cachuma and be sure to say hello the the great guys at the tackle shop near the launch ramp it may pay off big time for you in the long run.....Fish on! <'))))>< |

Here’s a fishing story.
Four married guys go fishing. After an hour, the following conversation
took place:
First guy:
’You have no idea what I had to do to be able to come out fishing this
weekend. I had to promise my wife that I will paint every room in the
house next weekend.’
Second guy:
’That is nothing, I had to promise my wiife that I will build her a new
deck for the pool.’
Third guy:
’Man, you both have it easy! I had to promise my wife that I will
remodel the kitchen for her.’
They continue to fish when they realized that the fourth guy has not
said a word. So they asked him.!
’You haven’t said anything about what you had to do to be able to come
fishing this weekend. What’s the deal?’
Fourth guy:
’I just set my alarm for 5:30 am. When it went off, I shut off my alarm,
gave the wife a nudge and said, ’Fishing or Sex’ and she said, ’Wear a
sweater.’

Tip&Trick Description 1:
Three colossus / extra jumbo shrimp (look like small lobster tails) per
adult.
2 small mini bottles of vodka
1 lemon
1 small bottle of Chinese hot and sweet mustard.
A small bottle of cream of horseradish sauce
Bacon sliced
Wood tooth picks
One large jar of mango chutney
· Shell shrimp / discard shell
· Wash in cool water after de-vain
· Put cleaned shrimp in bowl, pour vodka over shrimp, this kills and germs
and get’s rid of the stinky fish smell
· Squeeze a lemon over the shrimp and chill
· Drain bowl
· Mix horseradish and Chinese mustard 50/50 then rub the shrimp down with
the mix
· Wrap shrimp in bacon strips (boars head smoked bacon is nice for an added
kick), use toothpicks to hold bacon around shrimp
· Grill both sides then stand them up and grill the backs (We must always
cook our bacon)
· Place cooked shrimp on a plate, once bacon has cooled you can remove the
toothpicks prior to serving.
It should have shrink wrapped around the shrimp.
· Serve with mango chutney for dipping a room temp.

Tip&Trick Description 1:
I just returned from a fishing trip on the Fin Fever out of Newport Beach, California and was I impressed with what they used to catch the tunas! We used Yozuri Hydromagnums in the to troll for the albacore tunas. I am telling you these were the hottest lures I have seen in a long time! They removed the front treble hook from the lures to make removal of the lure easier and faster from the fish. After multiple double and triple hookups I am convinced these are the hottest lures around! I asked to take a photo of the lures so I could get some and thanks to the crew and their hot tricks we caught our limit (all we wanted till we were tired of pulling on the fish!) Great trip with a great group of guys!! Hope this photo helps.......Matt |
